Autopsy report of Satkhira FF yet to be released
Police are yet to receive the post-mortem examination report of freedom fighter Abul Kalam Azad, who died on March 1 after being beaten to death by some neighbours in Satkhira Sadar area. A team of Satkhira Sadar Hospital doctors led by Dr Farhad Jamil conducted the autopsy on March 2 and the civil surgeon signed it on March 12. When contacted Friday, Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain said that he had not yet received the report. Son of the 70-year-old freedom fighter Akhtarul Islam Shimul has expressed concern over the delay in the investigation. He also demanded quick arrest of the three remaining accused in the case he had filed after his father’s death against seven people. According to the case, accused Mominul Islam took goods worth over Tk1 lakh from their rod and cement shop in Ghona Bazar but was dillydallying over the payment. Mominul tortured Azad when he asked for the dues amount around 9pm on February 28. Azad died at Satkhira Sadar Hospital after midnight. Police arrested Mominul, Wadud, Manna Hossain and Md Rony immediately after his death, but have not been able to nab the others.
