Veteran journalist Shafik Rehman was later cleared after being barred from boarding a flight to the United Kingdom by Immigration Police at the Shahjalal International Airport yesterday.
He was scheduled to board a 6:55am Turkish Airlines flight to the UK to visit his wife Taleya Rehman who is ill and is currently seeking treatment there.
Immigration Police’s Special Superintendent Mahabub Rahman explained why he was not allowed to board the flight: “Since Shafik Rehman is an accused in a high profile case, we had to make sure he had the court documents regarding the release of his passport upon bail.
