Int’l conference on tourism begins at DU
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the conference being hosted by the university’s Tourism and Hospitality Management department. Prof Syed Rashidul Hasan, convenor of the conference, delivered the welcome address with the department’s chairman Prof Shaker Ahmed in the chair. Prof S P Bansal, vice-chancellor of Indira Gandhi State University, India, Prof Nasreen Ahmad, Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, Prof Kamal Uddin, and Prof Shibli Rubayat Islam of DU addressed the inaugural session. Prof Bansal in his speech said the conference would be a milestone in Bangladesh’s tourism sector. Prof Arefin Siddique handed a crest over to Hasan Monsur, managing director of Guide Tours Ltd, in recognition of his contribution to this sector. Thirty five foreign delegates participating in the conference will also visit the world's longest sea beach in Cox's Bazar.
