The cabinet is likely to approve a proposed contract between the government and PowerPac-East West-GasMin consortium for the development and operation of Bangladesh’s lone industrial city in Mirsarai, Chittagong.
The contract proposed by Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) will be placed in the regular cabinet meeting on Monday.
An official of BEZA said three of the large bidders submitted their tender for appointment of developers to the 610 acres of land in the Economic Zone.
“If everything goes well with the agreement, the construction and development work of the economic zone will start within the next two month,” the official added.
According to BEZA’s proposal, Powerpac-East West-GasMin Consortium has obtained highest number --79.65-- among three bidders.
Bengal-Farah JV and JV of Energypac Power Generation Ltd are the other two joint venture companies who were submitted their tender.
PowerPac has already given Tk40 crore to the authorities concerned for taking special facilities from the government.
