Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah has warned against the possibility of sporadic terrorist attacks by what he has called the "enemies of humanity" which exist outside of the mainstream in Bangladesh.
"Terrorist and militants do not belong to any society or religion; they are the enemies of humanity," the DMP boss said on Monday. "Hence, we cannot assure that they will not launch any isolated attacks."
The DMP chief said the investigation is ongoing into the Holey Artisan bakery attack in Gulshan which killed 24 people, including 17 foreigners, on July 1, 2016.
"We have collected enough evidence (and) the charge sheet in the case will be placed on time," he said.
Two most wanted militants of the New JMB group, including alleged Gulshan terror attack operational commander Marjan, were killed in an alleged gunfight with police on January 6.
The DMP chief added that the third militant who fled during the Mohammadpur raid could not be identified.
"Detectives are trying to identify him," he said.
