No casualties have been reported from the tremor that was felt around 12:58am early Wednesday.
It came some nine hours after another earthquake jolted different parts of the country killing two people and damaging some houses in Sylhet and Sunamganj areas.
Duty Meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department Arif Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune: “The earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale here in Dhaka. It originated from Mawlaik in Myanmar.”
However, the US Geological survey reported that the earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale at the epicentre which was located 38km South-South East of Mawlaik.
