
The investigation has learned that the same defamatory photos were also being circulated in different districts including Comilla and Chandpur with a deliberate intention of inciting communal violence.
Police has confirmed that attacks on the Hindu community was deliberate and planned to destroy the communal harmony in the country.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chittagong Range, Md Shafiqul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune “The defamatory photos were uploaded from an account with the name Washim.Bd on Facebook ID. The photos were circulated from that account and we’ve written a letter to the Facebook through the Police Headquarters to help find the identify of that account holder and where it is operating from.”
DIG Shafiqul said: “The same photos were found in the cell phones of different persons in Comilla and Chandpur in a bid to destroy communal harmony while police took immediate action in this regard and brought the situation under control with the help of local people.”
“Police has also learned of some names during their investigation which are now being verifying,” the DIG said.
The high police official said criminals planned and carried out the attacked to give the government a bad name.
“The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Brahmanbaria has been asked to find the details of the ID while we are monitoring similar kinds of Facebook accounts,”said DIG Shafiqul.
After the brutal attack on the minority community, it was later found, that Rasraj’s Facebook account was used by someone else, originally posted from an account of named Washim.Bd.
