The mayor made the assurance while exchanging views titled ‘Janotar Mukhomukhi Janoprotinidhi’ with the residents of the areas at the playground of Abdul Aziz School and College in Mothertek.
“Dhaka is a highly-populated city where around 15 to 20 millions people live in only 42 square kilometres areas. It is a big challenge for only one mayor to keep the city clean. I think every citizen is also mayor of the city. So we need cooperation from all to keep the city clean and livable,” Sayeed Khokon said.
He said all promises in his election manifesto would be implemented properly.
“I met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for sufficient fund for development of city corporation. After that premier allocated fund for various projects. Around 75% of the DSCC roads are now under repair and 100% will be repaired immediately,” he continued.
Officials of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), representatives and officials of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, Titas Gas, Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited and Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police attended the event.
Sayeed Khokon has asked the representatives of the residents of Basabo, Mothek and their surrounding areas to inform him about all the crisis and problems of the areas which they were facing.
During the meeting, local people said they were facing various problems, including rundown roads, drainage system, water logging, poor waste management system, scarcity of drinking water, gas crisis, traffic jam and street dogs.
Then Sayeed Khokon has asked the representatives to take immediate steps for confirming better services in all the sectors, while the officials concerned of the government owned agencies have assured him that the problems will be solved as soon as possible.
