CNG and petroleum fuel station owners and workers have postponed the indefinite strike they had announced to start from Sunday after a meeting with Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
Leaders of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association and Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank-Lorry Owners Workers Oikya Parishad met with the minister on Saturday and decided to postpone the strike for two months.
Earlier, the two associations threatened to go on countrywide indefinite strike from Sunday if its demands were not met by the time frame.
CNG station owners' demands include cancellation of the proposal on CNG price hike by gas distributor companies and cancellation of lease price increase of land owned by the Roads and Highways Department.
Petrol pump owners' demands include a raise in sales commission and a cut down on lease charges.
