Guimara Upazila Election office sources said three UP election, including Guimara, Hapchhari and Sindukchari, would be holding on October 31.
In Guimara, three chairman candidates, including Awami League candidate Mamong Marma, BNP candidate Md Mokhlesur Rahman, and United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) supported independent candidate Nirmol Narayon Tripura are contesting for chairman post while eight contestants are vying for women member (reserved) and 23 candidates are fighting for member post.
A total of 9,556 voters, including 4,672 women voters, are likely to cast their votes at nine polling centres.
In Hapchhari Awami League candidate Chaithowai Chowdhury, BNP candidate Mahabub Ali, Jaker Party candidate Md Jamal Uddin and UPDF-backed candidate Usheiprue Marma to contest for chairman post while eight candidates to contest for three women member (reserved) and 38 candidates to contest for nine posts.
A total of 13,218 voters, including 6,349 women are expecting to cast their votes at nine vote centres.
In Sindukchhari, BNP candidate Deen Muhammad, Awami League candidate Suinuprue Chowdhury and UPDF candidate Redak Marma to contest for chairman post while seven candidates to contest for three women member (reserved) and 21 candidates to contest for nine member post. A total of 4,607 voters are ready to cast their votes at nine vote centres.
Guimara Upazila Election Officer Md Ripon Hossain said voters to see triangle fighting among AL-BNP and UPDF candidates in Guimara, Hapchhari and Sindukchhari UP parishads.
“We have around 10 risky voting centres and we will deploy sufficient law enforcement agencies people headed by a magistrate, he said, adding that all sorts of preparation has been completed aiming to hold a free, fair and credible election, he added.
