Private university teacher found dead
A lecturer of East West University was found dead in her flat early on Wednesday. Police recovered the body of Rabeya Kulsum Pinkey, 26, from United Hospital in Gulshan and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue where an autopsy was carried out. Rabeya, a resident of Aftabnagar in Badda area, had joined the finance department at East West University on January 1. Friends informed Rabeya’s brother Sharif around 12:30am that they had called her several times but she did not pick up the phone, Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station told the Dhaka Tribune. Sharif rushed to her flat and found her hanging from a ceiling fan around 2am. He rushed her to United where doctors declared her dead, the OC said. The hospital authorities informed police about the incident around 2:45am. Dhaka Medical College's Dr AKM Shafiuzzaman said after conducting Rabeya's autopsy that primarily they were suspecting she might have committed suicide as injury marks had been found on her neck. Answering queries about injury marks on her hands, the doctor said she might have attempted suicide earlier by cutting her hands. Police have begun investigating into the incident, OC Abdul Jalil said.
