WB confident in PM's uplift agenda

Visiting World Bank President Jim Yong Kim has expressed his "full confidence" in the development agenda of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh. He expressed the confidence during paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence Tuesday afternoon, reports BSS. After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the World Bank president agreed to the steps the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken for the development of the country. He said he believes that Bangladesh has enormous potential to attract foreign investment. In this connection, the World Bank president offered to share experience with other countries of the ease of doing business in Bangladesh. Kim said World Bank is fully committed to support Bangladesh in adaptation and mitigation of climate change. The press secretary said the World Bank president volunteered to help Bangladesh to raise more fund to face climate change impact. Meanwhile, Jim Yong Kim pledged $2 billion over the next three years in new funding to help the country become less vulnerable to climate change.
