The locomotive of the Sylhet-bound Parabat Express was caught on fire on Friday, causing derailment of its several compartments in Habiganj.
Consequently, the rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country came to a halt.
Shayestaganj Station Master Mofazzul Hossain said the engine of the train caught fire at Noapara Station in the morning and some compartments derailed as driver pressed the brake immediately.

On information, fire fighters reached the spot and doused the fire.
No one was reportedly hurt. Salvage train has been trying to rescue the train.
Meanwhile the accident left some trains stranded in different stations on both sides of Noapara, he also said.
