Quader: New AL leadership to be combination of young, old

Update : 27 Sep 2016, 09:01 PM
Awami League presidium member and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the new leadership of the Awami League will be a combination of young and old leaders to be emerged in its 20th national council. "Along with the strength of the experiences of the old, new blood will be infused in the new committee of Awami League," he said, adding that no benefit can be derived by infusing impure blood in the committee and so new blood should be infused but the impure blood doesn't mean the young (generation). Quader said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city. Dhaka South City Awami League (AL) organised the discussion at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers in the capital marking the 70 birthday of Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The senior AL leader said: "What we see (consider) in the light of our strategy is the new idea. We have a rich tradition. We will attach technology with our rich tradition. It's a continuous process. With the combination of tradition and technology, a new leadership of Awami League will emerge with a combination of new and old (leaders) in the ensuing council." Dhaka South City AL president Abul Hasnat chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by AL joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, agriculture and cooperatives affairs secretary Dr Abdur Razzak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, AL organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Dhaka South City AL general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, joint general secretaries Abdul Haq Sabuj and Dr Dilip Roy. Speaking at the discussion, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said: "On this auspicious occasion of our leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's birthday, I would like to call upon people from all walks of life and professions including the teachers don't oppose (politics) anything only for the opposition's sake. Extend support to all the initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showing respect to the rule of law." Hanif expressed shock at the demise of BNP standing committee Hannan Shah and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
