1 killed, 4 injured in Cox’s Bazar helicopter crash
A man has died after a small helicopter belonging to private Meghna Aviation crashed in Ukhia. Four others were also injured when the chopper went down near popular tourist spot Inani's Rejukhali Bridge just after 10am on Friday, police and fire service officials said. “It was returning from Inani after dropping cricketer Shakib Al Hasan,” Cox’s Bazar Airport Manager Sadhan Kumar Mohonto said. The reason for the crash could not be known yet. Border guard troopers and police have been deployed at the crash site. Police identified the deceased as Shah Alam, 28. Ukhia police OC Md Abul Khayer said the injured were the pilot Wing commander Shafikur Rahman, passengers Shariful and his two sons. “All four suffered minor injuries,” the OC said, adding that they were being treated at a local Ukhia clinic. He, however, could not give more details about the victims. But Shah Alam succumbed to his injures on the way. Preliminary examination of the body revealed that he had suffered severe head injuries. His body has been kept at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue, said the hospital's emergency medical officer Dr Wahiduzzaman Murad.
