Shower forecast for hot Eid day

Update : 12 Sep 2016, 03:38 PM
The Met office has predicted rain for Tuesday when Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha. A low has formed over the west central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said on Monday. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh as the axis of monsoon trough runs across the central part of the country, the BMD says. In its 24-hour forecast (Monday 9am to Tuesday 9am), the Met office has forecast “light to moderate rain or thunder showers” with temporary gusty wind. It says rain is likely to occur in parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Parts of the country may record moderately heavy to heavy rainfall. Most Eid congregations will be held before 9am and people will then sacrifice animals to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice of a sheep in place of his son Ismail. The Eid-ul-Azha is also known as 'festival of sacrifice'. In the last 24 hours (Sunday 6am to Monday 6am), Ishwardi recorded 132mm rainfall, the highest in the country. Dhaka got only 3mm rainfall. Rajshahi baked under 35.8 degrees Celsius heat during the same period while Dhaka's maximum temperature was recorded at 32.8 degrees Celsius. For the next 72 hours, the Met office says the outlook will change little.
