At least one person has been killed and 35 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Tangail.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway in Kalihati upazila's Salla area on Friday morning, police said.
None of the victims could be identified immediately.
Asabur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East police station, said a bus of north-bound bus of 'Ujjal Paribahan' coming from Chittagong and a maize-laden truck drove into each other.
“The truck driver's assistant was killed on the spot. At least 35 others were injured,” the OC said.
The injured have been admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital. “Four of them have suffered serious injuries,” OC Asabur said, without elaborating.
