Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mesbah Uddin yesterday said they were going to conduct mobile courts against unauthorised cattle markets in the city and in the district.
The DC said this while addressing a special law and order meeting held at his office.
“Two mobile courts are going to be formed headed by additional district magistrate Mominur Rashid and they will start their activities from September 2,” said the DC.
“We will not stoop to any political pressure and we will not allow any unauthorized cattle markets. The mobile courts will conduct eviction drives against the illegal cattle markets,” vowed DC Mesbah.
“Chittagong City Corporation mayor has already been informed about conducting mobile courts against the unauthorized cattle markets. The CCC authorities have submitted a list of authorized cattle markets in the city,” said the DC, adding that livestock officers would be deployed to examine the
health of the sacrificial animals brought into the authorized cattle markets of Chittagong.
The upazila chairmen and municipal mayors of the district urged the DC to send the lists of authorized cattle markets.
The DC also requested all the leaseholders of the cattle markets to install fake currency detecting machines.
Noor E Alam Mina, Chittagong Superintendent of Police, Rezaul Masud, Chittagong additional SP, Dr Azizur Rahman Siddiqui, Civil Surgeon, Chittagong and other high officials from different government offices attended the meeting.
