
Police have again declared Tk5 lakh reward for information that can lead to the arrest of Selim, who is believed to be one of the planners of the murders of blogger-writer Avijit Roy and Jagrity publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon.
A media statement from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the bounty on Wednesday afternoon.
Police described Selim as being one of the top leaders of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), which has been associated with attacks on secular writers in the country.
He has also been described as one of the strategists for the killings of bloggers Niladri Niloy, Washiqur Rahman, Najir Uddin Samad, LGBT rights activist Xulhaz Mannan, and his friend Tonoy.
Selim has many aliases such as Selim, Iqbal, Mamun and Hadi-2.
Anyone with information on him can approach police on the DMP’s Facebook page or tip off the investigators on mobile app Hello CT. They can also call hotline numbers – 01713373194, 01713373198 and 01713373206.
On May 19 this year, police had declared a bounty of Tk18 lakh for information on six ABT members, including Selim. During the time, the reward for Selim’s information was also fixed at Tk5 lakh.
