Strike in three districts of CHT

Parbatya Nagarik Parishad, Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad, Parbatya Chattagram Samaodhikar Andolon, Parbatya Gana Parishad and Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Oikya Parishad called the strike. They claim that the approval of the Act will take away the rights to land Bangalee settlers have in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). The activists of the organisations are picketing on the main points of Rangamati town. The draft was recently approved in a cabinet meeting at the Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Assistant Police Super of Rangamati Chitto Ranjan Pal said extra security measures had been taken in the town as well as in the whole district to avert any untoward situation.
