Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque handed over saving bonds and cash worth Tk70 lakh to the family members at the police headquarters on Wednesday, a media statement said.
Two police officers were among the 22 people killed in a terrorist attack at an upmarket restaurant in Gulshan on July 1. They are Senior Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Rabiul Karim and Officer-in-Charge of Banani police station Md Salahuddin Khan.
Barely a week later on the day of Eid ul Fitr, Constable Ansarul Haque and Constable Jahirul Islam lost their lives near Sholakia Eidgah in Kisoreganj in a militant attack.
Rabiul was born at Phatigram village in Sadar upazila of Manikganj in 1986. He joined police as an assistant superintendent in 2012. He is survived by wife and two children.
Salahuddin was born at Bankpara village in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj in 1967. He joined the police as a sub-inspector in 1991. He left behind his wife, a daughter and a son.
Ansarul was born at Daulotpur village in Madan upazila of Netrakona in 1987. He joined police as a constable in 2006. He left behind his mother and his wife.
Jahirul was born at Bhatipara village in Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh in 1992. He was a bachelor.
Rabiul’s mother Karimunnesa and his wife Umme Salma received saving bonds worth Tk5 lakh and Tk15 lakh respectively, while Remkim, wife of Salahuddin, got saving bonds of Tk20 lakh.
Ansarul’s wife Nurunnahar and his mother Rabeya Akter were given Tk50,000 in cash and saving bonds worth Tk7 lakh each, while Jahirul’s mother received Tk15 lakh in saving certificates.
Besides, Madhumati Bank also gave Tk5 lakh to each family.
