Four die in Manikganj road accident
A woman and her daughter are among four people killed in a road accident in Manikganj. The head-on collision between a passenger bus and a fish-laden pickup van at Ghior upazila left at least three others injured, two of them in critical condition. Police identified the victims as Sefali Begum, 50, her daughter Nargis Akter, 30, Mizanur Rahman, 30, and Poran Rajbongshi, 40. The victims were on the pickup. Sefali and Nargis were killed on the spot after a Dhaka-bound bus of Sohag Paribahan and a pickup van collided head-on on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at around 6:15am on Friday. Two other victims died at the hospital, Borongail Highway Police outpost in-charge Yamin-ud-Doula said. The accident took place at Tora area. Police impounded the vehicles but their drivers had fled the scene immediately after the crash. Bodies of the women have been kept at the Munnu Medical College Hospital, where two of the injured are also undergoing treatment. Mizanur and Poran's bodies are at the Manikganj Sadar Hospital. One of the injured has been shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
