Dhaka Buddhist priest gets death threat
The chief priest of Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery in Basabo, Dhaka has received a death threat. The letter was sent to the priest on Tuesday by a person who signed the letter as AB Siddique and claimed that he is a “fighter for Islam.” Karuna Bhikku, one of the monks at the monastery, told the Dhaka Tribune that a person, who usually delivers official letters to the monastery, handed over the letter around 12:30pm. "Buddhists are enemies of Islam. So stop preaching your religion in Bangladesh.” On information, police high-ups visited the monastery and the security around the area was increased. Abdul Quddus, officer-in-charge at Sabujbagh police station, said a general diary had been filed with the police station in this regard.
