Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said global leaders know that Bangladesh has zero tolerance on militancy and terrorism.
“Militancy and terrorism is such a matter that the issue was discussed in national and international conferences as well as formal and informal discussions. Global leaders know that Bangladesh has adopted zero tolerance on militancy and terrorism,” the premier said in reply to questions to lawmakers in the parliament on Wednesday.
The premier said global leaders have praised Bangladesh’s position against militancy. “They talked about assistance on curbing militancy and terrorism. I told them that we can curb militancy with the cooperation of all.”
Replying to another query, the premier said: “Militancy and terrorism has expanded in South Asia, like other parts of the world which is a threat to regional peace and security. In such a context, countries of this region can work together to establish peace.”
Hasina said world leaders have been evaluating her work and praised the development activities of Bangladesh.
“I have been working sincerely for the country’s development. I am also working to uphold the country’s image abroad and establish it as a country of peace,” she said.
“The honour I have been receiving in the international arena is not mine, but an honour for the people of the country. That’s why I am thankful to the people.”
