This year’s theme of the anniversary is “Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh in Nazrul’s Conscience
The 120th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam will be celebrated across the country on Saturday in a befitting manner on Saturday.
An elaborate program has been organized at the national level to mark the day. Various organizations and cultural bodies will also celebrate the day amid a variety of functions.
This year’s theme of the anniversary is “Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh in Nazrul’s Conscience,” reports BSS.
As part of the national celebration, the main program will be arranged at Trishal in Mymensingh, where the poet had spent most of his life, writing his memoires.
The birth anniversary of the national poet will also be celebrated in the poet’s unforgettable place in Doulatpur in Cumilla, Tewta in Manikganj and Karpasdanga in Chuadanga and Chattogram.
In Dhaka, the celebration will begin with the placing of wreaths by the people of all strata at the poet’s grave beside the Dhaka University central mosque in the morning.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private radio and television channels will air special programs and print media will bring out special supplements highlighting the birth anniversary of the national poet.
Nazrul, the rebel poet of Bengali literature, was born in Churulia in the Burdwan district of West Bengal on this day in 1899.
He was famous for his fiery poem Bidrohi (The Rebel) and his many melodious songs.
