Canadian and UK expats Masud Khan and Mujib Irm have received the prestigious Syed Waliullah Award 2017 from Bangla Academy for their literary works in Bangla.
Bangla Academy introduced the award in 2011 at the Bangla Academy Book Fair in London to recognize writers abroad for their special contribution in the fields of Bangla language, literature and culture.
Masud Khan is a poet and writer from Bangladesh. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Master’s from Royal Roads University, Canada. Over the past two decades, his writings have been featured in newspapers and magazines in Bangladesh, India, USA, UK, Belgium, Romania, Malaysia, and Canada.
A certificate, a crest of honour and Tk50,000 will be handed over to each them at the concluding ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela.
Earlier the award was known as "Bangla Academy Probashi Lekhak Award."
