Banks asked to ensure e-transaction during Eid vacation

Update : 27 Jun 2016, 06:52 PM
Bangladesh Bank has asked all banks to ensure electronic transaction through automated teller machine (ATM), point of sale (POS) and e-payment gateway system during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr vacation. Banks have been asked to ensure electronic transaction during the long vacation as people are more likely to use their credit, debit and ATM cards for transactions, according to a circular issued by the central bank on Monday. Bangladesh Bank also instructed banks to take all necessary measures in the interest of clients in case of electronic transaction – i.e. keeping the ATM and POS networks open at all times and ensuring cash supply in the ATM booths. The ATM booths will remain open during Eid vacation and security guards must be stationed at each booth, the circular states. Clients will be notified via SMS after the completion of every ATM and POS transaction, as usual. They will also be notified if POS service becomes unavailable for any reason. The central bank also emphasised ensuring help line support for the customers so they do not have to face any hassle, says the circular.
