Khaleda to Hasina: Take a lesson from Cameron

Update : 28 Jun 2016, 03:19 AM
Pointing to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Khaleda said: “Look at the United Kingdom and take lesson from them. You are staying in the office forcefully while the elected prime minister of the United Kingdom resigned from the office after facing defeat in the EU referendum. "I would say the Awami League should step down from office.” The BNP chief was addressing an iftar programme at Dhaka Ladies Club organised by pro-BNP Agricultural Association of Bangladesh on Monday. The former premier further said: "The Awami League says it follows Westminster democracy. If you do, then step down from the office and hand over the power to a neutral government and hold a free and fair election. "We will accept the voting result, whatever it is." The BNP chief alleged that the government has pushed the agricultural sector towards destruction through politicisation. British Prime Minister David Cameron is to step down by October after the UK voted to leave the European Union. The British PM urged the country to vote Remain but was defeated by 52% to 48% despite London, Scotland and Northern Ireland backing staying in.
