'Pak move for war criminals takes liability for genocide'

Update : 19 Jun 2016, 08:38 PM
The Pakistan government’s statements in favour of the executed war criminals in Bangladesh are tantamount to an admission of its involvement in the 1971 mass killing, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said at parliament on Sunday. The minister termed Pakistan’s reaction wholly irreverent, biased, unacceptable and beyond etiquette. Replying to a query at parliament, Mahmood said: “After the execution of war criminals, Pakistan Parliament adopted motions of condemnation and its foreign minister issued arrogant statements. These are brazen meddling in the affairs of an independent country.” About the tripartite agreement among Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, the minister said there is no clause in the agreement that states that persons involved in crimes against humanity, arson and rape cannot be tried. “On the contrary, Pakistan itself has failed to follow the treaty's compulsion to bring its citizens involved in mass killing under trial,” he added. About the Turkish government's statement on the execution of war criminals, Mahmood said: “The matter has been resolved diplomatically. We are well aware of the ill moves and conspiracy on the global arena.”
