Octopus returns to beach to thank its rescuers

Update : 15 Oct 2017, 01:28 PM
A video of an octopus, which returned to the Red Sea beach in Soma Bay to thank its rescuers, has recently gone viral on social media. A family was vacationing in Soma Bay and discovered an octopus stranded in the sand without a way to get back into the ocean. The family rushed to the octopus, which was slowly drying out and dehydrating, and saved its life by pushing it into the water. The octopus took some time to recover and then swam away. https://youtu.be/Y5JvZCncxbg The next day when the family went to the beach again for a walk, they discovered a shadow coming towards them very quickly. It was the same octopus that they saved the previous day. "He recognised us," the video caption read. As the video shows, the octopus accompanied the family for almost an hour and tried to touch their feet repeatedly. "We are sure that this octopus came back to thank us for saving his life. It's amazing how intelligent animals are," the family says.
