Notorious Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, a multi-billionaire who made headlines with his garish lifestyle, has died in London at the age of 82, his family said on Tuesday, reports AFP.
Adnan reportedly worked with Moosa Bin Shamsher in international arms trade, particularly brokering arms deals with Russia in the ‘90s.
A yacht owned by him was used in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again. Adnan sold the yacht to the Sultan of Brunei, who in turn sold the yacht to Donald Trump, who in turn sold it at a loss of $9m to bail his Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City out of bankruptcy.
Adnan was notorious for his lavish lifestyle in the latter half of the 20th century. A song titled “Khashoggi’s Ship” was penned by rock giants Queen.
"It is with deep sadness that the Khashoggi family must announce that our beloved father Adnan Khashoggi, aged 82, died peacefully today in London while being treated for Parkinson's Disease," Adnan’s family said in a statement.
