Frank Navarro, a Holocaust scholar and history teacher at the Mountain View High School in California, has been suspended because of a complaint regarding his comparison of the rise of Donald Trump with that of Adolf Hitler.
Frank drew parallels between the two leaders because of their anti-foreigner campaign platform and vows to make their country “great again”, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
Apparently a concerned parent had sent an email to the school committee to look into the matter. The school suspended Frank, who was teaching there for over 40 years, with pay.
When news of his suspension spread, a petition was launched on change.org which has gathered over 28,000 signatures since.
In Georgia, Mairah Teli, a Muslim-American woman who teaches at Dacula High School, found an anonymous note in her classroom on Friday, reports Washington Post.
The note said headscarves were not allowed in America and told her to tie it around her neck and hang herself with it.
In the wake of the 2016 US elections, there have been hundreds of reports of protests against Donald Trump and attacks on minorities.
