Category Four hurricane Nicole heading towards Bermuda
In the wake of Hurricane Matthew devastating Haiti and lashing parts of the United States, another hurricane has formed in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricane Nicole was initially a Category Two hurricane, but picked up pace on Wednesday with speeds well over 200 km/h. Nicole was located about 180 miles (290 kilometers) south-southwest of Bermuda and was packing maximum sustained winds of 215 km/h, according to the NHC. Hurricane Nicole is expected to pass over or near Bermuda on Thursday. Bermuda is a tiny island nation in the Atlantic Ocean of just 21 square miles of area. Hurricane Matthew, the most recent Category Four hurricane has claimed more than 1,000 lives since landfall on Haiti and North and South Carolinas last week.
