A “ferocious” dog has been detained for allegedly chasing and biting a former policeman in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh of India, NDTV reported.
Uttar Pradesh, it seems, is the land of the absurd, with a massive search conducted just few days ago for the missing buffalo of UP Minister Azam Khan.
An FIR has been lodged against the dog describing it as a menace. It bit former inspector Vijay Yadav while he was visiting his native village of Sanota.
Apparently, the action came after three months of complaints from the former policeman regarding the “reign of terror” the dog had unleashed in the village.
The dog has been booked under section 129 of the Indian penal code which holds the owner of the animal responsible for negligent conduct.
Under such circumstances, the owner can be jailed for six months along with a fine.
The dog, however, has been adopted by the Gulawathi police station and is being well fed and looked after instead of being hurled behind the bars.
