Two dead in India passenger train derailment

Two people were killed and several injured as Dibrugarh Express (15904) on its way from Chandigarh to Assam derailed on Thursday near Jhilahi Railway Station near Uttar Pradesh's Gonda.

Immediately after the mishap, rescue teams rushed to the spot. As of now, two have been killed and several injured from the 18 coaches of Dibrugarh Express train that derailed.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also directed the officials to reach the site and expedite the relief measures immediately. The UP CM ordered the district administration to properly treat the injured.

The development comes after several cases of train derailment have been reported across several parts of the country.

Last month on July 16, the engine and a coach of the Kamrup Express got detached in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

The derailment of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in UP, is yet another instance of how Modi Govt has systematically jeopardised Rail safety, says President of the Indian National Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge.
