INDIA bloc leads ahead of NDA in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state in terms of parliamentary representation, the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) leads in 40 of the 80 seats.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress leading in 34 seats and 6 seats respectively, while BJP is leading 37 (the BJP in 34, the RLD in two, and Apna Dal (S) in one) seats, according to the latest trends available on the Election Commission website.

Notable figures like Union Minister Smriti Irani and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi navigate tight electoral races in Uttar Pradesh seats. Irani trails behind Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi, Gandhi maintains a lead in Rae Bareli.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads in the Varanasi seat.

All eyes are fixed on Uttar Pradesh due to its allocation of 80 representatives to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament.

The state is widely regarded as a pivotal factor in shaping the composition of the central government and therefore, determining the outcome of elections at the national level.

In the previous general elections, BJP had won 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh, defeating Congress significantly.
