India's Trinamool Congress on Thursday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a major injury, and was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The All India Trinamool Congress shared photos of Mamata on a hospital bed with a deep cut on her forehead and blood on her face.
Mamata's brother Kartik Banerjee told a Bengali news channel that the chief minister had a fall inside her Kalighat home after returning from an event.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed shock over the incident and wished her a speedy recovery.
According to PTI sources, TMC national general secretary and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital. State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar also wished her a speedy recovery.
"Wishing chief minister Mamata Banerjee a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health," West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said in a post on X.
In a video, the chief minister was seen being taken to the hospital's Neurosciences Department on a wheel chair with a bandage on her forehead.
