India’s Chandrayaan 3 nears lunar landing

S Somanath, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), conveyed his confidence in the upcoming lunar mission, Chandrayaan 3, reassuring that all systems are proceeding as planned.

Chairman S Somanath assured, "Our progress is on track. A series of manoeuvres will lead to its landing on the Moon on August 23. The satellite is in good health."

Chandrayaan 3, the third lunar exploration mission by India, seeks to build upon the achievements of its predecessors, Chandrayaan 1 and Chandrayaan 2. On Sunday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released the first images of the moon captured by Chandrayaan-3, showcasing captivating views of the lunar surface. These images were taken during the spacecraft's Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) on August 5, 2023.

According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-3 entered lunar orbit on Saturday, covering about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon since its launch on July 14. The accomplishment exemplifies ISRO's continuous strides towards mastering space exploration.
