Tamil Nadu man pays with 60,000 coins to buy new car

A man in Tamil Nadu has paid for his new car worth six lakh rupee with a sack full of 10 rupee coins.
The man named Vetrivel said he did this to question people’s lack of interest in accepting coins.
He said his mother ran a shop where customers would often refuse changes in the forms of coins.
“No one is ready to accept the coins,” he told India Today.
“Even banks do not accept coins saying they do not have employees to count coins,” he explained claiming that banks make a choice to not accept them considering there is not any official guideline for financial institutions in this regard.
"Why are banks not accepting coins when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) never said coins are worthless? No one takes any action even after we complain,” he added.
The employees of the car dealership were surprised by Vetrivel’s stunt.
They were reluctant to accept the transaction at first but came around later after seeing Vetrivel’s determination.
The employees had to count every single one of the 60,000 coins before handing him the keys to his Maruti Suzuki Eeco.
