West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cast her vote at a polling station in Kolkata on Monday during the seventh phase of the state assembly polls, NDTV reported.
A resident of Harish Chatterjee Street of south Kolkata's Bhabanipur, Mamata exercised her franchise at a polling booth in Mitra Institution School.
Sitting in a wheelchair, she briefly paused before photojournalists while coming out of the booth before boarding her car. She also showed victory sign after casting her vote.
Mamata was a two-term legislator from Bhabanipur but this time she is contesting the assembly elections in Nandigram in the Purba Medinipur district.
The seventh phase election is being held in 34 constituencies spread across five districts.
Over 8 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase at 11,376 polling stations. A total of 268 candidates are in the fray.
Polling for the eighth and final phase will be held on April 29 and the counting of votes will take place on May 2.
