‘We are waiting for the bodies of our loved ones’

The injured passengers of US-Bangla Flight BS211, which crash landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on Monday, March 12, are being released by local hospitals in the country. The survivors and their relatives who are with them in Kathmandu long to return home, but their waiting period is yet to come to an end. Relatives of those who died in the plane crash are yet to see the bodies of their deceased loved ones. Many of them declined to comment on the matter, saying: “We are waiting for the authorities to hand over the bodies. We want to return home as soon as possible.” Basimah Saifullah, sister of deceased crew member Khaja Mohammad Shafi, said: “We are tired of waiting and we have nothing to say. “We wanted to see the body, but now we just want to return home after they hand over the body of my brother.” Basimah further said: “We urge that the victims of this accident be given state funerals, and we get the correct body for burial.”
