Rushnara Ali: Myanmar’s role towards ethnic minorities not acceptable

Pointing out the humanitarian crisis caused by Myanmar armed forces by inflicting violence against Rohingya minority in Rakhine State, Rushnara Ali mentioned that the role of Myanmar Government towards its ethnic minorities is not acceptable. The member of British parliament also mentioned that Bangladesh was gaining moral high ground by giving room to the Rohingya minorities and by giving access to the NGOs in Bangladesh. She assured that the aids and investments from the UK will certainly increase against the backdrop of the current situation. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam on Sunday had a meeting with a British trade delegation led by Rushnara Ali MP, British Parliamentarian and Trade Envoy of the UK Prime Minister to Bangladesh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. British High Commissioner Alison Blake also accompanied the delegation during the meeting. State Minister Shahriar Alam, referring to the strategic dialogue which was held in March and the visit of UK’s FCO Minister Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, mentioned that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and UK had attained more strength. Rushnara and her delegation also expressed keen interest to invest in the development of railway sector including strong railway infrastructure. She also offered to avail lucrative export credits from the British Companies to implement the upcoming mega projects.
