A person has allegedly murdered 14 of his family members and then committed suicide by hanging himself at Thane in India.
The accused Hansil Warekar, 35, was a chartered accountant.
The deceased include his wife, eight children, his three sisters, and his parents.
Citing police, Indian Express reported that there was a party organised at Warekars residence on Saturday night, post which, most of his relatives stayed over.
Ashutosh Dumbare, joint commissioner of Thane Police said that the incident is believed to have taken place between 2 to 2:30am.
“Primary evidence suggests that the accused bolted all the doors of the house and murdered his family while they were asleep with a knife that we found near his body. The accused then hung himself after killing his family,” said the police officer.
He said the police was made aware of the matter when one of Hansil’s sisters – Subia Bharmar – had shouted out for help.
