Bangladeshi Manjur Chowdhury has won from District 13 as a National Democratic Convention delegate in the New York primary election for the US presidential election by a huge margin
He won the 13th Congressional District at the National Democratic Convention with 9,959 votes.
Among the Bangladeshis from New York State, Manjur Chowdhury Jaglul is scheduled to be the first Bengali to attend President Joe Biden's Democratic Convention in Chicago next August.
He has previously been elected twice as a judicial delegate for Queens County in New York City primaries.
He was elected as the Board of Directors, one of the most influential Democratic Clubs in Queens, Newvision Democratic Club.
During his career, Manjur worked as a controller in the main office of the Dominican Province of St Joseph.
He is a native of Kamalpur area of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila.
Manjur Chowdhury said: “I am grateful to everyone for selecting me as a Democratic Conventional Delegate from Congressional District-13 in the New York State Presidential Primary Election.
“Who have helped me in various ways, I cannot repay you this debt. This is a big win for the Bangladeshi community. I hope you will be by my side like last days,” he added.
