Teen gets car, college scholarship for cleaning up after New York protest

A teenager in Buffalo, New York has received a car and a college scholarship as reward for cleaning up his community after a destructive protest.

Antonio Gwynn, an 18-year-old high school senior, watched protests in his community on Facebook Live. When he noticed that some protesters were being destructive, he decided to step in for the community, leaving his house in the middle of the night and spending ten hours cleaning up.

When Matt Block, a man living in the community, heard of Gwynn’s act of community kindness, he gifted him with his treasured 2004 convertible Mustang, reports CNN affiliate WKBW.

“I couldn’t come to grips with selling it, and this was a good way for me to get rid of it and know someone that gets it is going to appreciate it, I think,” Block said.

Upon learning of Block’s gift, a local businessman Bob Briceland decided to cover Gwynn’s insurance for one year.

"I just felt compelled to help him out. We just need to get together our whole city and show people how there's so many good people here," said Briceland.

Furthermore, upon hearing Gwynn's story, Medaille College in Buffalo offered him a full scholarship where he plans to study business starting this fall.

Gwynn is no stranger to helping others. He is a member of Kappa Phi where he enjoys doing community service, and he helps out at churches.
