According to a Washington Post analysis, President Trump has spent less time listening to intelligence briefings than he did playing golf since taking office.
Trump had previously made snide remarks about President Obama’s penchant for the same sport.
One of his tweets in October 2014 read: “Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the US, President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than Carter.”
The New York Times reports that the White House initially even declined to confirm whether Trump actually played golf, although later it was clear that he did as he twitted about it himself.
Trump has already played golf on six different days this month and on five of those occasions he played all 18 holes.
When the White House finally confirmed, they said he only played a few holes.
However, claims to the contrary soon surfaced and were confirmed by a golfing blog No Laying Up, which interviewed the man who rode with Trump for all 18 holes.
The White House subsequently responded to the claims: “He intended to play a few holes and decided to play longer. He also had a full day of meetings.”
Apart from golfing at the Freeway, President Trump has also been spending a significant amount of his time on the social media platform Twitter.
The Washington Post analysis estimates that Trump spent only six hours listening to intelligence briefings, compared to thirteen hours on Twitter, and a whopping 25 hours on the golf course.
Regarding intelligence briefings, Trump has said that he likes “as little as possible”, which was later quoted by MSNBC.
In Trumps opinion, intelligence reports need not be a 200 pages long as the contents can be summarised in one page.
