Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they struck a centre of Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence service, in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, amid an escalating air war between the two foes.
In a statement aired on state television, the Guards said they “struck the military intelligence centre of the Zionist regime's army, Aman, and the Zionist regime's terrorist operations planning centre, the Mossad, in Tel Aviv,” adding it was “currently on fire.”
On the fifth day of escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, tensions intensified with continued missile exchanges. Israel claimed it killed senior Iranian commander Ali Shamdani in an overnight strike on a command centre in central Tehran.
Shamdani had just replaced Golam Ali Rashid, who was also killed by Israeli forces days earlier. The Israeli military said it also targeted multiple missile and drone sites in western Iran.
In response, Iran launched missiles at Israel, prompting air raid sirens and explosions in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Residents were briefly ordered into shelters before being told they could leave. Debris fell in parts of Tel Aviv, and emergency crews responded to fires.
Despite global calls for calm, both nations maintained their offensives. A dramatic Israeli strike on Iran’s state TV headquarters reportedly killed three people.
With neither side backing down, the fifth day marked a dangerous deepening of the ongoing confrontation.
