Bangladeshi expatriate wins 48C lottery prize in UAE

A Bangladeshi expatriate living in the United Arab Emirates has won 20 million dirham — around Tk48.49 crore — in a raffle draw held in Abu Dhabi.

Arif Khan, who has been living in UAE for almost four years, bought a ticket for the “Mighty 20 Million” on May 27, reports Khaleej Times.

“I always used to purchase tickets alone. I was just trying my luck. I have never bought any other lottery ticket in my life. I was buying for the past year,” the 36-year-old told the UAE-based daily.

He added that he had not yet decided what he was going to do with the money, but said he planned to help people in need.

“I have two children, a wife and parents. My brother also runs a shop here in the UAE. Money and wealth are the scariest things on earth, so I hope this amount does not change me in any way,” he said.
