BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will offer Eid prayers on Sunday morning near his residence in Kingston, London, as is his custom.
UK BNP President MA Malik informed The Daily Dazzling Dawn on Saturday that Tarique Rahman will observe Eid prayers at Kingston Jame Mosque, or, weather permitting, in a nearby open ground.
However, it has been reported that no Eid greetings will be exchanged, despite both Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman being in London.
MA Malik said that they were unable to secure a large enough venue on short notice, which led to the cancellation of the Eid greetings exchange.
It is understood that, despite the community's interest, including party leaders and activists, the party's high command decided against hosting the greetings exchange due to several factors, including Begum Khaleda Zia's health, potential overcrowding, and the desire to avoid any disorder.
In a poignant reunion, former prime minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia, will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with her family in London, marking the first time in ten years they will share this festive occasion.
The gathering, a source of immense joy for the family, will bring together Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman, his family, and the family of her late son, Arafat Rahman Koko.
