A case has been filed at the Airport police station in the capital against 35 Bangladeshis on charges of involvement in militancy in Malaysia.
On Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman’s court accepted the case statement and set August 11 as the date for submitting the investigation report.
Police Inspector Md Abdul Baten of the Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Unit (ATIU) of the Police Special Branch filed the case at the Airport Police Station last Saturday.
The accused are: Md Nazrul Islam Sohag, Mohammad Redwanul Islam, Jahed Ahmed, Parvez Mahmud Pabel, Sharif Uddin, Rahman Mohammad Habibur, Saleh Ahmed, Md Abdus Shahid Mia, Md Matin, Faisal Alam, Raihan Ahmed, Md Raj, Md Monsurul Haque, Imon Mohiduzzaman, Akram Md Wasim, Sheikh Salam, Mohammad Raj Mahmud Mondal, Ashraful Islam, Mohammad Faisal Uddin, Mahfuz, Rabiul Hasan, Mohammad Sohel Rana, Md Afsar Bhuiyan, Hosain Sahed, Md Ashiqur Biswas, Md Shawon Sheikh, Yasin Ali, Mohammad Parvez Mosharaf, Mahiuddin, Sabbir Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun, Md Rafiqul Islam, Md Shakil Mia, Asaduzzaman Hossain and Md Sohag Rana.
Sub-Inspector S M Bakhtiar Khaled of the DMP’s Prosecution Division confirmed this information in court. He said that the case against these 35 individuals was presented in court on Monday. The court accepted the case statement and set August 11 as the date to submit the investigation report.
It is to be noted that last Friday, three individuals who were deported from Malaysia on charges of involvement in militancy were shown arrested and sent to prison by the court. They are Nazrul Islam Sohag, Mohammad Redwanul Islam, and Jahed Ahmed.
